Sculpture Journey Installed

Picture of Journey installed in NC on Monday. Installation went smoothly. Giant utility-style truck installed Journey in rain-soaked backyard. Journey was positioned so it was the first thing client sees out bedroom window, leaving home by back door & when coming back home. Success.

Reading a great book "The Coming Prosperity" by Philip Auerswald.  Not the typical "Megatrends" etc more along the lines of  "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell.  Find it an interesting read since it does not have a hardcore, monolithic agenda like so many books/commentators/political candidates that try to spin current events into their current fantasy of what the world is doing or should be doing.

Newest sculpture, Coordinate Harmony is almost 2/3 done.  Hot weather is slowing down it's finish slightly.  The remaining red & green markings are where some minor touch-up needs to be done.  CH's finished height will be 40".

Coordinate Harmony  will join the Music Series of Sculptures.

Coordinate Harmony is a series of harmonies that operate independently of each other.... Renaissance musicians often used this type of harmony, and it’s capable of producing rich and moving textures within a piece of music.

One of my other jobs when not sculpting is taking photos for various stock photo agencies including Canstock.  My photos include fruits and vegtables, construction equipment, road signs about times in your life, and commercial objects like natural gas tanks.  Slightly different look at some of what interests me.

New E-Book

Five years ago, 50 Secrets Humans Should Know was written by and illustrated with paintings by Jody Wright.  It sold 38,000 copies.  Now Jody has teamed up with me to produce Sculpting a Better Life; with Jody providing more of her grounded thoughts on life and featuring my sculpture.
The new 50 page e-book features 25 of my sculptures giving a peek at how my meditative sculpture and Jody's writing are an interwoven tapestry of serenity.

Jody's final book, that is out for all formats the Ipad, Nook & Kindle, is titled Cat Secrets that Humans Should Know.   This is a an extension of her animals series.  First came 50 Secrets Humans Should Know, then Secrets Human Kids Should Know.  The Cat Secrets have been carefully teased out from three cats Jody & I have owned - two female store-bought cats & 1 ferrel male alley cat that we (really I) befriended - Jody was just seen as an object by Odo the male cat.  To Odo, my partner Jody was just "her" (said with a hiss) a barely tolerable person.  In the book, the cat with warpaint on his face & draped over a blue jean leg is Odo.   To find out more information on how to buy this e-pub go on our website to : http://www.wsggallery.com/animation.html

Jody also has been moving into children's books.

Her first children's book is Secrets Human Kids Should Know.  It is a story of a boy who gets lost but also finds out more about himself in the process with the help of a dog.  It is a delighful book that in the I-tunes format also has an accompanying video built in.  You can see more about the book on our website at:  http://www.wsggallery.com/animation.html

Jody will release shortly her newest book Breakfast on Planet Obiedo.  It tells the story of a family's adventure at the breakfast table when their food gets a mind of its' own. Even though set on another planet, Breakfast on Planet Obiedo is a riot that all can have fun with.   You can see more about the book & be put on the notification list on our website at: http://www.wsggallery.com/animation.html

Jody my lovely and talented partner has uploaded some new books onto various platforms.

She has just uploaded two new books to the Kindle on Amazon.

The first book is Creative Murder - a series of short stories on how artists can plot and carry out heinous acts in a most creative way.  It is available on Amazon at:

Jody's second book is the Painters Gift a poignant story of aging
gracefully as an artist and how maddening some of that experience
can be.  It is available on Amazon at:

Eihei going to Permanent Home

City of Mount Dora Art in Public
Places Program

MOUNT DORA – The City of Mount Dora Public Arts Commission at
their regularly scheduled meeting on September 27, 2011, selected another
spectacular art piece to be placed in the upcoming Community Building Sculpture
Garden. Artist Carl Wright created a beautiful abstract lime stone sculpture
entitled "Eihei" (Translation: Guardian or Sentinel).
Mr. Wright's studio is located in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Additional information
on the artist and his work can be found at www.wsggallery.com.

Shawn McNalis,
Chair of the Commission, stated “After reviewing the submissions, the
Commission liked the ethereal feel of Wright’s stone carving and felt that it’s
rounded shape would provide a nice compliment to Doug Hays’ more angular metal
sculpture named “Council”. Our intention for this sculpture garden is to
represent a variety of artistic styles. We appreciate the McLin Foundation for
making the purchase of this sculpture possible at a time when there is not much
money for the arts”.

The new sculpture
was made possible by a recent grant contribution from the CHARLES B. AND MARY
M. MCLIN FOUNDATION. The McLin Foundation’s generosity will help forward the
mission to make Mount Dora a City that celebrates the arts.

The City's Public
Arts Commission members acknowledge the approved artists that have registered.
The City of Mount Dora is currently soliciting professional artists for the
purpose of creating a database of qualified artists that will be utilized in
the commissioning of public art by the Public Arts Commission. Mr. Wright was
selected as a registered artist during the recent Call for Artist process. The
database will also be a resource for private developers in selecting capable
artists to create public art for private developments to meet the requirements
of Public Art in Mount Dora. For more information and an application on how to
become a registered artist with the City of Mount Dora, please visit
http://www.cityofmountdora.com/ and link to "Boards and
Committee" (Public Arts Commission).

Sculpture Videos

Been working on making videos of my sculptures so that everyone could see them in the round.
